Online Archive of California

- Not all Bancroft manuscripts are listed on OAC. Many small and single-item collections can only be found through OskiCat. However, OAC is great for finding correspondents and subject files

- these are rarely included in the OskiCat record. Keyword searches tend to give great results here.

- Some items can be viewed online through OAC, but they are mostly pictorial items.

- OAC will help you find the specific volume/box/carton you need to look at in a large collection, but you still need to look at the OskiCat record to see if any are off-site in NRLF.

OskiCat (UCBerkeley Library Catalog)

For large manuscript collections, there is often a link to the OAC finding aid to help you determine what volume/box/carton you need to order.

- Not all Bancroft material is held onsite. Any item with the location “Bancroft NRLF” takes three business days to be delivered from off-site.

- Be very careful using the format filters in the advanced search page. There is a glitch in the database that may suppress records you want to find.
